The High Weald Fibre Factory produces hand spun yarns from alpacas reared in Kent and Sussex in the UK, an area known as the High Weald.  We like to use natural coloured fleeces, sometimes adding silk and merino wool for a slightly different effect.  Because we process each fleece completely by hand, we can track exactly which animal and farm the finished yarns came from. Some fleeces we hand dye to obtain a unique yarn.  These fleeces are all hand spun on spinning wheels into character yarns which knit up to Double Knitting or Aran weight on size 4mm/5mm needles.  This yarn is not mass produced, not over-engineered and not shrink proof.  It will have to be washed by hand, but air has been spun into it making it feel lighter and warmer in cold weather.  Prices start at £7.00 for 50gms.  Please click on the "Online Shop" button to see all the yarns that we currently have in stock.  If you wish to receive a sample of our yarns please click on the "Enquiry Form" button, fill in your name and address and type 'yarn sample' in the query box.
